Drains in Long Ashton
Long Ashton has many older stone houses along the main road, with later estates built behind them. Older properties often have clay drains, and the large trees and leafy gardens around the village are a common source of root problems. Some homes share a drain with their neighbours before it reaches the public sewer. Since 2011, shared drains like these are usually the water company’s job to fix, so it’s worth finding out where a fault actually is.

What you get
- Camera inspection of the drains you can get to from your inspection chambers
- Blockages, cracks, roots, displaced joints and collapses found and explained
- Faults located from above and marked on the ground

We’re inspection only: no repairs, no jetting and no formal survey reports. Why that matters and what we check.

Questions
Is a fault in a shared drain my responsibility?
Usually not. Since October 2011, most drains shared with neighbours and pipes outside your boundary belong to the water company, which is Wessex Water here. An inspection can show whether the fault is in your own drain or the shared part.
Do you do drain surveys in Long Ashton?
No. We do drain inspections: we find faults, show them to you on screen and mark where they are. If a lender, insurer or the water company has asked you for a formal coded survey report, you’ll need a survey company. More on the difference.
Do you repair drains in Long Ashton?
No, we only inspect. That way we’ve nothing to sell you, and you can take what we found to any repair contractor.
