Who we are

The Drain Inspector is run by Lee Molton at 24a Stanley Grove, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 3EB. We are the “controller” of the personal information described here.

What we collect and why

When you contact us

If you use the form on our website, WhatsApp or email us, we collect your name, phone number and/or email address, your postcode or town and what you tell us about your drains. We use it to reply to you and to arrange and carry out an inspection. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, or our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us.

When we inspect your drains

We keep your name, address, contact details, the date of the inspection, what we found and what you paid. We need this to do the job, take payment and keep business and tax records. Our lawful basis is the contract between us and our legal obligation to keep records.

The price checker

When you check a price, the postcode or town you type is sent to our website to work out your zone. We don’t store it or link it to you.

Our website

We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don’t use analytics that follow you across other websites. Our web host keeps standard server logs (such as IP addresses and pages requested) for security and to keep the site running.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell your information. We only share it with:

• our web and email host, 20i (UK), which stores the website and its data for us;
• our bank, for payments you make to us;
• our accountant and HMRC, where needed for our accounts and tax;
• the police, insurers or legal advisers, if needed to deal with a crime, a claim or a dispute.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries: up to 12 months if you don’t go on to book.
• Customer and job records: 6 years after the inspection, because we have to keep business and tax records for that long.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it (where we don’t have to keep it), object to how we use it or ask us to restrict it. Email office@thedraininspector.co.uk and we’ll reply within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

Keeping it safe

Your information is stored on secure, password-protected systems. Website traffic is encrypted (https).

Changes

If we change this policy we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
